Privacy policy

Unanimovie is a voting service for picking a movie, with no account. This policy describes the processing in place today. It does not cover advertising, payments, or analytics, which are not deployed.

Controller

The operator of Unanimovie, reachable at contact@unanimovie.com.

Data we collect

A technical visitor ID (Supabase anonymous authentication), with no name, email, or password.
The nickname chosen for a room, votes (No / Maybe / Yes), membership status, and, if any, the chosen movie.
Room settings: type (solo, couple, group), streaming platforms, filters, room code, watch region.
Minimal server logs (IP address, date, error) for operations and security.

Unanimovie does not ask for an email to vote. We do not build a public profile. We do not sell your data.

Purposes and legal bases

Providing the service (create a room, join, vote, show the result): contract / pre-contractual steps, legitimate interest in running the app.
Security, abuse prevention, and keeping the service up: legitimate interest.
Answering a request sent to the contact email: legitimate interest and, where applicable, a legal obligation.

Recipients and processors

Server host: Hostinger International Ltd..
Supabase: anonymous authentication, PostgreSQL, and, where used, realtime to sync a room.
TMDB (The Movie Database): the server queries the movie catalog (titles, posters, platforms). These calls do not send your nickname or votes.

Depending on the Supabase project region, data may be processed outside the European Union. Standard contractual clauses then apply via the provider.

Retention

Rooms, members, suggested movies, and votes: 7 days after the room is created, then the link expires.
Anonymous session cookie: 8 hours (see below). A later visit may create a new anonymous session.
Technical logs: limited duration, as needed for diagnostics.

Cookies and local storage

Unanimovie does not use advertising cookies or analytics trackers. The cookies and storage below are strictly necessary for the service. They do not require a consent banner under current CNIL guidance.

Supabase session cookie(s): keep the anonymous user while they vote (lifetime: 8 hours).
Local storage for a room-creation draft (platforms, filters) until the flow is finished.
Where applicable, a service worker (PWA) for the manifest and static files. Voting itself is not available offline.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability where it applies, and object to processing based on legitimate interest.

Write to contact@unanimovie.com and include the room code if the request is about an active session. With no email account in the app, identification uses the details you provide (code, nickname, context).

You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL .

Minors

The service is not intended for children under 15. If you are a parent and notice use by a minor, contact us to delete that room’s data.

Changes

This policy will be updated if we add a named account, ads, payments, or audience measurement. A consent banner (CMP) would then be required before any non-essential tracker.
